Visiting Treehouse Point: The Washington Treehouse Hotel Travel Guide

Treehouse in the woods at Treehouse Point

A Treehouse Point travel guide based on our adventures.

Phil gets the credit for us initially visiting Treehouse Point when he booked it for our honeymoon but Kelsey knew about it because it's EVERYWHERE on Pinterest. She just never imagined we could actually go and visit this dream destination seeming so out of reach on the internet.

After the first visit, it instantly became one of our favorite places. When we say this place is magical, we mean it.

Picture a treehouse village situated in what we can only imagine is a forest straight out of a fairytale. You feel secluded and removed from the stress of society even though it's an easy 30-minute drive from downtown Seattle.

We now go back almost every year and it gets better every time. Our newest goal is to take some of our friends next time so we can share this magical place with others. (Spoiler Alert, the trip is on the books for 2021 so stay tuned).

Where to Stay

Where to stay in TreeHouse Point? Well in a treehouse of course! But deciding which one to pick is the tricky part.

There are six now seven treehouses to choose from and even a non-treehouse room option in the main lodge. So far we have stayed in five of the treehouses and loved each one in different ways.

Each treehouse is unique and has a cute name. But most importantly, each one has views unlike anywhere else.

Upper Pond

This was the first treehouse we stayed in. It sleeps four which is the only treehouse that sleeps more than two.

There used to be a ladder to get in but now there is a full set of stairs. At the top of the stairs is a little deck with a bench to enjoy the Seattle weather.

On the inside, there are two twin beds lofted and a queen bed. There is also a lot of space and two chairs. This treehouse has a little composting toilet that's in a little room inside.

Why pick this treehouse?

If you are going with more than two people then this one is your only option. If you are going by yourself or with one other person this one is great because of all the space. We were able to do a puzzle, drink some wine and read our books all in our little space.

Nest

This treehouse is a great mix of being nice and cozy while still having a very tiny section for relaxing. Most of the inside is taken up by the bed but there is room under the bed for storage. There is also a tiny table and two chairs at the end of the bed looking out the windows.

The small deck has two chairs and a nice view of the pond on the property. There is a little compostable toilet outhouse right outside the door.

Why pick this treehouse?

It is perfect for cuddling up but still having a little bit of space. It also has a staircase of only a few stairs so it is one of the more accessible treehouses. The amount of windows in this treehouse makes it feel very open as well.

Temple of the Blue Moon

This treehouse is known as the "honeymoon" suite as that's where most stay if they get married on the property. This one is for sure one of the best. First off, there is a bridge to get to it which is always fun.

Then, the inside has probably the most space out of all the treehouses. The bed is on a little platform and there is a little chair as well.

The deck has a great view of the river and the other treehouses. Just like Nest, there is a little compostable toilet outhouse right outside the door but there is an actual toilet just a few steps away so it's better to use that one. The view out of the window gives you unobstructed views of the river which makes it feel very secluded.

Why pick this treehouse?

Honestly, it is one of the best if not the best. Between how cute it looks on the outside to being even more amazing on the inside this one will impress anyone. It also is one of the most photographed treehouses so perfect for anyone wanting a cute Instagram pic.

Burl

Probably tied with being one of the best is Burl. Its main selling point is that it has an actual toilet and sink with plumbing. But honestly, this treehouse is amazing even without the toilet. It also has a bridge that adds to your privacy.

There is a sitting area on the main floor with a ladder to the loft. The loft is possibly the best part as it has the bed and then TONS of windows. The river is very close so that adds to the relaxation.

Why pick this treehouse?

The toilet is a big selling point. We stayed here for Christmas so not having to go out in the cold helped. This one also has the best of both worlds because you get the coziness with the bed in the loft but still have a lot of room.

Bonbibi

We have not stayed in this one yet but we have been enough times to know a little about it. It is the smallest treehouse and is just a bed on the inside.

It does have one of the coolest decks because the deck is under the treehouse. Plus it is closest to the bathhouse.

Why pick this treehouse?

It looks cool and is great for cuddling. The deck is also great but it's probably best during the warmer months.

Trillium

Trillium TreehouseThis treehouse was our "white whale" for several years. It had been on a "not able to rent" list. They were working out something with the county so even though we always got to see the outside we weren't able to stay in it. Finally, it came back on the "market" so we made sure to rent it immediately.

We were not disappointed as this treehouse was more than worth the wait. It's a double-decker and has so many windows. The main level has a lot of space and the perfect area for reading with a view. The upstairs has the bed and again, the view is just amazing.

Why pick this treehouse?

First of all, the double-decker aspect is cool. Second, the windows are AMAZING. There are views all around and when it rains you feel so close to nature. It also has more space than some of the other treehouses making it great for games and puzzles.

Ananda

This is the newest of the bunch and it is AMAZING. It's ADA-accessible and has a unique outer design with wood that almost mimics an ocean wave.

The inside is an open concept with the bed, a fireplace, and chairs all being in a giant room. Then it feels even more open with giant windows surrounded by trees.

On the outside, you have a wrap-around deck and a little table and chairs to hang out on. This option seems to feel more secluded than the rest with views and location.

Why pick this treehouse?

So it's a safe bet to assume this one is awesome. The ADA accessibility is perfect for anyone worrying about stairs and the openness is perfect if you want more space in your treehouse.

One of the main reasons to pick Ananada is that it has its own bathroom with a sink and toilet. Since most of the others don't have this luxury, it's a big plus.

The Lodge

There is a room in the main lodge at Treehouse Point. It's not a treehouse but it is still BEAUTIFUL. We have never stayed in it but we have seen it thanks to the friendly staff. The high beams are perfect and the bed is huge. There are also other perks like your own bathroom and WiFi.

Why pick this room instead of a treehouse?

It's a great way to be at treehouse point without having to go too far out of your comfort zone. Having a bathroom is nice and the WiFi is a plus.

Where to Eat

The Lodge

Breakfast is included in your stay at the main lodge. Each meal is handpicked and crafted by their staff. We love all the different options and they do well with accommodating diet restrictions like vegan or gluten-free. In the evening there are freshly baked desserts that have never disappointed.

The Roadhouse Restaurant

Right down the street from Treehouse Point there is a cute little restaurant. It has good "home-cooked" meals and a full-service bar. We have never had to wait but we typically go during the winter when it may be less busy. They don't have too many vegan options but they have some great vegetarian options.

What to Do

Puzzles

Kelsey's favorite activity in the treehouse is puzzling. It might seem silly but how long has it been since you had time to sit down and just enjoy a good puzzle.

The lodge has a great puzzle selection with some easier options or some very challenging ones. If your treehouse has the room you can borrow any of the puzzles to take back with you.

Even if you don't have room in your treehouse, the lodge has plenty of space. We have started a puzzle one night, left it out of the way on a table, and got back to it the next day.

Read a Book

Reading a Book in a TreehouseOne of the best parts about the treehouse is that you get to disconnect from the busy world. The treehouses don't have WiFi in an effort to help you connect with nature.

Having a book to read is a great way to relax in your treehouse while listening to the rain outside. A lot of the treehouses have decks or patios perfect for a reading nook.

The lodge has some books to borrow but we suggest planning ahead and bringing your own. We bet you probably have a book lying around you've been meaning to find time for.

Relax by the Fire

Treehouse Point has not one but two places to enjoy a fire. They also have smores materials because...how could you not.

One fire is inside the lodge and the other is outside surrounded by the trees. Both have lots of seating and are a nice way to wind down after you day adventures.

Hiking

We like going on hikes each time we visit Treehouse Point so we can stay healthy while traveling but still be around nature. There are a lot of hikes to choose from but we have some of our favorites.

Just remember that Washington can be a little chilly so make sure to dress appropriately. We always have hiking boots and a waterproof outer layer.

The path at Treehouse Point

This trail may not be a true hike but it is beautiful and easy to check out. You are already on the property so go ahead and take the path down to the river. It's a very short walk and you finish right up to the river. Plus, it's on private property so it's never busy.

River flowing under green tree coverSnoqualmie Falls

This hike is only about 15 minutes from Treehouse Point. It is a pretty easy 1.5 mile hike and has some amazing views. There is a nice path that takes you to the bottom of the falls. If you don't want to hike but still want to see the falls there is a great view of the top right by a parking lot.

Waterfall surrounded by Washington TreesCherry Creek Falls

Cherry Creek FallsWe did this hike in 2014 during our first trip to Treehouse Point but then did it again in 2019. The trail is only about 30 minutes from the treehouses and is a well-marked trail with not much elevation gain.

You are surrounded by beautiful trees the whole time and the falls at the end make for a pretty destination. The entire hike is a 5 mile round trip but since it's mostly flat it's not bad.

There is also a deserted crashed car on the hike that is both cool and creepy. Just something unique you don't see every day.

Granite Mountain

View at the top of Granite MountainIf you are looking for a hard hike then this one has amazing views and is a challenge. It has a 3,800 ft. elevation gain and the summit is about 5,600 ft. Some parts are steeper and have you climbing on rocks.

Keep in mind that the weather can be a bit tricky. If you go during the fall then the fog and storms move in quickly. You should probably avoid the wintertime as it can be bad for avalanches.
