Bakersfield RV Resort Review

Bakersfield RV Resort

Bakersfield RV Resort is in a small, desert town named Bakersfield. It's located in Southern California about two hours inland from LA. We took two job assignments in Bakersfield but both were only a few weeks long.

Overall: 4.25/5

We didn’t get to spend much time at this park but it was definitely the nicest park we have stayed in. If we are in the area we will definitely visit again.

Location: 3.5/5

View at night from the RV resortBakersfield is not the most popular place in California. It is in the middle of nowhere and a little bit of drive from LA. Honestly, we didn’t mind the place. It has all the necessary stuff for us (Target, Costco, restaurants, etc.) and the traffic isn’t bad at all. Coming from the San Francisco Bay Area where we had to deal with a 30-40 minute commute every day and traffic all the time, we didn’t mind a slower location.

That said, it does get very hot (we were there during January), there is a lot of dirt and it can smell like manure at times.

Amenities: 5/5

Pool and Hot TubThe amenities are where this park really thrives. First off they have a putting green which we have not seen anywhere else. There is a hot tub and heated pool open all year long.

The laundry room has 8 washers and 10 dryers costing only about $2 a load. They have a workout room with weight machines, a smith machine, and a bike. Not too mention, their amazing bathrooms open 24 hours a day and showers which are heated, spacious, and always clean.Gym

ShowerThey have great hours for their front office which is open 8-7 every day and has a gift shop. You can buy souvenirs, food, wine, and other random items you may need for the RV life.

The best thing about this resort is the fact they have a great restaurant on site called Crest Bar and Grill. We went there twice and the food was great both times. We highly suggest you make sure you get some fries with your meal as their fries were perfect. If you are staying in the park, you can order online and eat it at your trailer!Bathroom

There are walls all around the park and a gate that closes at night. The park is also well lit at night and pretty secure. The only thing that hurt their rating on amenities was the wifi which was slow and often wouldn’t work for us. Cell service was generally pretty good there but it definitely wasn’t perfect.

Price: 4/5

Inside the main buildingThe monthly price for a back-in spot was $750 which is not that bad. For the amenities you’re getting, it's well worth the price. There are a couple of other local parks in the area that were slightly cheaper but did not seem like the places for us. Bakersfield RV Resort had a ton of spots open and everyone we talked to over the phone was great.Pull through spots

The daily spots are a little more pricey at $55 for basic pull through or back in and $59 for extra long spots. Weekly prices are a little better at $330. As with most places, monthly is a steep discount on their prices at $750-800 depending on the type of spot. They offer a 10% discount for having a Good Sam membership, FMCA or military.

Spaces: 4.5/5

Our tiny home in its spotTheir spaces are nice and not terribly close to your neighbor. You are in an RV resort so you are always going to be somewhat close to other people. All of the spaces are gravel which isn't great after some heavy rain but that's a relatively uncommon occurrence in Bakersfield.

Our only issue with the gravel spots is the amount of gravel we got into our car after about 2 weeks there but that's a minor issue. Otherwise, everything else about the spot was great.

For most spots, there is even grass growing around you, and some trees scattered about. All of the spaces have full hookups including water, sewer, and 20/30/50 electric.

Overall: 4.25/5

Bakersfield RV resortWe really liked this park. It worked well for the location we needed to be in since it was an easy on/off from Highway 99. Plus it had great amenities. We would have happily stayed here longer if our job did not take us elsewhere. If you are driving between LA and San Fran, we suggest you take a detour and stay a night or two in at the Bakersfield RV Resort. Plus the pool is amazing!
